Kaisa Malmberg new CEO of Greenfood-owned Satotukku

Kaisa Malmberg steps in as the new CEO of Satotukku Oy, part of the Greenfood Group. She comes most recently from the role of Commercial Director at Satotukku and takes over from Tomi Hakkarainen, who has been CEO of the leading Finnish fruit and vegetable company since 1998. Kaisa will begin her new position on June 1.

Satotukku is Finland's largest privately-owned fruit and vegetable wholesaler and has been on the Finnish market for almost 60 years. Kaisa Malmberg started working at Satotukku in 2015, and her journey from buyer to CEO has included roles as purchasing manager and, most recently, commercial manager.

Kaisa Malmberg has a long career in fruit and vegetables. She has a Master's degree in Food Science and a Bachelor's degree in Food Economics with a specialization in nutrition and organic food production, both from the University of Helsinki. She was handpicked by the then CEO of Satotukku from the customer side in 2015. As a longtime leader in a trust-based industry, she looks forward to continuing the journey together with her employees:

– I am both proud and excited to take on the role of CEO of a company that has built such strong trust with customers over the years. All the enthusiasm and expertise have made us the strong player we are today, and we will continue that journey, says Kaisa Malmberg.

Kaisa Malmberg takes over at an eventful time, in an industry facing challenges that include looking at new raw material flows to meet changing conditions and expectations regarding sustainability.

–The industry will face challenges related to the climate, sourcing from new countries, while Finns are buying less fruit and vegetables due to the economic situation. But it’s all cyclical, and Satotukku has strong roots. Our business is not a sprint but a long race, says Kaisa Malmberg.

– Kaisa Malmberg’s appointment as CEO is proof of the strength within our ranks. I am both curious and confident about how her skills as a leader and strategist will take Satotukku further into the future of the fruit and vegetable industry, says Ted Stenshed, CEO of Greenfood Fresh Produce.

Kaisa Malmberg will also become one of the most influential people within Greenfood Group's Finnish operations.

– Satotukku is part of Greenfood Group's Finnish operations, which have the most balanced gender distribution in leadership positions within our entire group. Thus, the Finnish operations also serve as a guiding light in our efforts to increase the proportion of women employed with us, says David von Laskowski, CEO and Group President of Greenfood Group.

Satotukku is Finland's largest private fruit and vegetable wholesaler. The cornerstones of its business are product quality, professional purchasing, and agreements with the best contract growers. The company is part of the Greenfood Group, one of Europe's leading players in healthy and sustainable food, operating in eight countries with a turnover of SEK 5.7 billion in 2023.
